Outbound Click Tracking That Keeps Amazon's TOS Intact

Amazon's rules prohibit cloaking that misrepresents the destination — but a first-party 302 with the real Amazon URL is fine, standard practice, and gives you click telemetry on links you'd otherwise never see.

How to fix it

  1. Route affiliate links through your own /out/ path with a server 302.
  2. Log the slug, page, and timestamp, then redirect with your tag intact.
  3. Never modify the destination: the URL the user sees must be where they land.
  4. Mark /out/ noindex so the redirect path stays out of search.
